Distinguished professor - SinoProbe Lab, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (Beijing, China); China University of Geosciences (Wuhan, China); GEOMAR Helmholtz Center (Kiel, Germany)
Major interests of Irina M. ARTEMIEVA include integrated geophysical-geodynamic modeling of lithosphere structure globally; thermal structure, stability and evolution of cratonic lithosphere; diamond potential. She is the author of the Cambridge University Press monograph "The lithosphere: An interdisciplinary approach" (2011, 794 pp.), first-author and co-author of a number of highly cited papers on thermo-chemical structure of cratonic lithosphere, and is included in the 2020-2022 Stanford lists of the "World 2% most influential scientists". She has long been consultant to DeBeers.
Irina Artemieva has worked, since 1995, as associate professor in the universities of Uppsala and Strasbourg, senior researcher at USGS (Menlo Park, CA), visiting professor at Stanford university and Professor of Geophysics in univ. Copenhagen (Denmark, 2005-2019).
Irina Artemieva is presently President of the European Geosciences Union (EGU). Professor Artemieva is Elected Member (Fellow) of Academia Europaea and of Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, and GSA Fellow. Her significant contribution to lithosphere research has been recognized by awarding her the Augustus Love Medal of the European Geosciences Union (2021).
