Neil gained his PhD working on high metamorphic grade rocks around Broken Hill in Australia.

That was followed by mapping of the underground working and drilling at Kalgoorlie synthesising the data ahead of the Superpit development.

He and David Groves developed many of the ideas used in Western Australian gold exploration since the 1980s.

For four decades, he has pursued a better understanding of gold and how to turn new science into exploration successes.

He has just published Formation of gold deposits available via Springer.
